At Mettler Design, we had the opportunity to engineer an RC Bait Boat for a European company. We had to ensure the boat meets stringent IP-65 standards, providing ingress protection against water and dust. Our focus was to create a boat that is not only high-performing but also optimized for production. The design facilitates easy molding and assembly, streamlining the manufacturing process and ensuring efficient, cost-effective production. This product showcases an innovative & practical approach to cater to the clients' needs.
Design Evolution
Product design at Mettler starts with detailed sketches to create an aesthetic design that meets our client's expectations. Our process ensures the final product is both visually appealing and functional.
The next step in our process involves creating mathematical models and performing engineering analysis to finalize the design parameters. This ensures that the design is not only visually appealing but also functionally robust and ready for production.
Once all design parameters are finalized, we focus on design for manufacturing & production. Our goal for this phase is to keep parts simple, ensuring they are easy to manufacture and assemble. This optimizes production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
The next stage is prototyping and testing. We build and test prototypes, making any necessary design changes to ensure optimal performance. Once finalized, we create a high-fidelity prototype, often termed as the golden unit that serves as a demonstrator for the final product.
